If by any chance you are headed to New Orleans in the next few weeks, run don't walk to the Southern Style Now Showhouse sponsored by Traditional Home. The first ever Southern Style Now Festival was this past weekend and I used it as an excuse to get back to New Orleans and drag my sweet husband along for a fun weekend away. And oh my goodness did we have fun! The showhouse was exciting to walk through, the lectures were inspiring, the cocktail parties were epic, and my liver now needs some detoxing this week! I met some amazing designer peers that I had been following (*cough* stalking) on Instagram forever, met a few fresh faces and some legends of design, looked in on some of my favorite shops, and ate some fabulous food. I'll do a few posts from the trip but I wanted to start first with the showhouse.
Now, if you aren't familiar with showhouses, they are actual homes (usually on the market and in this case just purchased by newly-weds) that are used as a stage set for different designers to freely design each room however they want. It's always a mish-mash of styles since everyone does whatever they want, but it's always inspiring and a great way for designers to show off their creativity and style. It was a great line up of southern designers, including a few Houston girls - Paloma Contreras, Catherine Olasky and Catherine Brooks Giuffre - way to go ladies!
A few highlights of the house that caught my eye...
Stay tuned for more inspiration from my trip to NOLA, and if you can't wait - catch all of my travel posts on my Instagram account @lindseyherod#southernstylenow
