Halloween seems to be one of those holidays you either really love or really hate. As a kid, of course, I loved Halloween and getting dressed up. In my teens and twenties I really didn't like it at all - possibly because I stressed too much over having a clever costume and when I couldn't come up with a good idea or simply didn't have time to mess with it, I dubbed the day silly and irritating. But now that I'm in my thirties and have a little one, I must say I love it again! We have a giant cobweb on our house, spider garland and pumpkins arounds the house, and a Jack-O-Lantern that Byrdie (my two year old) loves to help her dada light up every evening and even gave it a hug last night. A nasty cough and cold hit her this past week and took us out of some of the Halloween festivities I was looking forward to taking her to, but tonight is our neighborhood Halloween block party, and despite a lingering cough, I think we will be fine to do some trick-or-treating. This year she's a poodle skirt girl (see my Instagram for proof) at request of my husband and brought to fruition by my very talented mom, and I'm sure she's going to love romping around with her friends and gathering up sweets. We will walk down with some friends with a cooler of beer and after we have some fun cocktails planned and a rosemary and garlic pork roast with roasted beets and potatoes on the menu for a fall inspired dinner party (thanks to my husband, the cook in the house).
